Formula E gets title sponsor

We have to get used to a new name, when the Formula E Championship will be mentioned by its official name.

The series have made a contract with the Swiss company ABB, so the official name from now on will be ABB FIA Formula E Championship.

The parties haven’t released any details about the length of the contract, other than it’s a multi year deal, starting already from today.

The series will be the first FIA sanctioned series to get a title sponsor. Formula 1, WEC, WTCC, WRC and the ETRC to just name a few, have never had any title sponsor, and is only known for the series name.
