Formula E goes to Saudi Arabia

The ABB FIA Formula E Championship has a tradition of doing things a bit different than all other race series. That is basically on every parameter.

Formula E will now go somewhere, where not many others have been before.

The season opener of the upcoming Season 5 will be run on the streets of Riyadh, which is the capital city of Saudi Arabia.

Like it was the case in Hong Kong for the 2017/18 season opener, this will be a double round too, with two separate races being run on Saturday and Sunday.

No further details regarding the 2018/19 calendar has been announced, but it’s expected that Monaco will be part of the calendar again, like the usually are every second year. The reason for the race only being run every odd year, is down to the historic racing happening in Monte Carlo on equal numbered years, as a warm up to the Formula 1 race, while Formula E has had the uneven numbered years since 2015.

The 9th round of Season 4 in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship will be run in Berlin this weekend.
