Porsche Supercup rained away in Monaco

The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race in Monaco completely rained away.

It had been raining during the night, and after a break in the rain, it started again just as the cars left the grid. Already before that, it was decided to start the race behind the Safety Car. When the race went green it only lasted a few laps before the SC boards had to go out again. Mikkel Overgaard Pedersen was unlucky to slide off the track at Sainte Devote corner due to the rain. His car was planted heavily in the barriers and had to be liftet away. Thankfully nothing but damaged pride happend to the driver.

When the race went green again it didn’t go the full distance, before the red flag was shown. A big crash by Klaus Bachler followed up by a collision between Sven Müller and Phillip Frommenwiler ended the race. All drivers were ok, but the clearing up would take too long, so thats the reason why the race was stopped.

Prior to that Chris Bauer and Roar Lindland also had contact at the Swimmingpool section.

Matteo Cairoli was the winner of what you hardly could call a race, due to the bad conditions in the rain, from Pole Position ahead of Klaus Bachler and Michael Ammermüller. The reason why Bachler is still on the podium was because the race result was taken on the lap before the red flag – and at that point Bachler was still in P2.

The next race in Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will be run in 1 months time at the Red Bull Ring on July 1th-3rd.
