Sven Müller wins chaotic Supercup race

Sven Müller won a very chaotic Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race.

On a drying Red Bull Ring he made a super start from 3rd start position and took the lead already in turn one.

The poleman Matteo Cairoli made a big mess of the start, and only came out of turn 1 as 4th – a position that he would stay in for the remaining 16 laps for the race.

Mathieu Jaminet and Jeffrey Schmidttook the other 2 positions at the podium, and there wasn’t much drama at the front of the field.

But there was plenty of dramas further back the field. Nothing less than 3 safety car periods had to be done after off-track moments and contact between drivers further down.

Among others we saw contact with Paul Rees and Christian Engelhart. Rees got a penalty while Engelhart is still under investigation as we write this.

Matteo Cairoli is still in the lead in the championship, but Sven Müller and especially Mathieu Jaminet have eaten into that lead in the championship this weekend.

Next race is already next weekend at Silverstone.
