Mike David Ortmann to become youngest GT Masters driver in history

After two seasons in ADAC Formula 4 with kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport (ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.), Mike David Ortmann now moves on to ADAC GT Masters.

At just 17 years of age, Mike David Ortmann is set to become the youngest driver in ADAC GT Masters, after his switch from single-seaters to GT Sport. „I am looking forward to this new challenge in a new car and a new class, especially with two drivers on one car. At the moment we don’t know what car it will be yet. But I have a good feeling and believe it will be a successful season”, Ortmann revealed.

Looking back, the German completed his second season in the German ADAC Formula 4 series, taking third in the driver’s championship. „In summary, the season was very good. I am satisfied having secured third place also regarding the options we had for testing. We were on a good level with three victories and ten podium finishes”, he said.

Obviously his first win in his single-seater career at Sachsenring was a personal highlight for the Berlin-born Mücke driver, which he found difficult to describe.: „On the other hand, it was not easy to process this new feeling of a win. But it was incredibly beautiful.”

Due to his tight schedule, it’s hard to predict where Ortmann’s fans will be able to see him next. „Of course, we try to come up with something for my fans. But it’s extremely difficult as I am training to become a motor vehicle mechatronics engineer, which means I also have to go to vocational school. Fortunately, I get days off for both testing and the races”, explained Ortmann, which means that his fans might have to wait for 148 days, until the start of the new ADAC GT Masters season in Oschersleben at the end of April.

Even during his Essen Motor Show visit, the German was busy: „We all have a connection to cars and that is represented here in an amazing way. It’s a pity that I don’t have more time to take a closer look at everything. But I am always looking forward to be here again every year.”

For the upcoming Christmas period, Ortmann plans to spend a rather quiet time. „In order to finish off the 2016 season, I will take time out to relax with my family, despite the continuous fitness training in preparation for next year.”
