Matt Campbell takes maiden win in PMSC

Round 4 of this year’s Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup was run at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.

Matt Campbell started from Pole Position, ahead of Mattia Drudi and Michael Ammermüller.

Top 3 got a good start and kept their positions through the first corners.

On the second lap of the race we had Piotr Parys and Giovanni Berton spin in the middle of the field, but luckily nobody hit them.

Daniele Di Amato, Philip Morin, and Zaid Ashkanani had a close fight, which saw the three drivers going side by side through several corner. It was a fair battle with all three staying on the track, which isn’t always the case in Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.

Mikkel O. Pedersen had gotten a nice start from P14 and was three places up, before he got a push from behind and was spun around. Which meant that he dropped all the way down to 19th, where he mananged to gain one position from, and finish 18th.

With two laps remaning, the race really heated up. Drudi had overrun his tires and first we saw Ammermüller go past, and shortly after Dylan Pereira went past too.

Mark Radcliffe parked his car in the gravel with just two laps to go, and that sent out the Safety Car.

Quick work from the marshalls meant that there was one final lap to duke it out on. Top 3 remained the same, but Dennis Olsen made a great overtaking manoeuvre on Josh Webster in the battle for fifth.

The Aussie Campbell could take his first victory in PMSC ahead of German Ammermüller and Luxembourger Pereira.

Michael Ammermüller defended the lead in the Championship, ahead of Dennis Olsen while Matt Campbell jumped up into third, and is now ahead of Dan Cammish.

The next Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race will be run at Silverstone next weekend.
