Rebellion springs a surprise in FP3

The first positive surprise came in Third Free Practice at the FIA World Endurance Championship round at Spa Francorchamps.

Rebellion Racing set the fastest and third fastest times, while Toyota Gazoo Racing #7 were the second fastest. Rebellion Racing #1 was the quicker of the two. We had to look all the way down to fifth to find Toyota #8, since SMP Racing #17 also had sneaked past.

ByKolles Racing Team only managed to do 6 laps, but was still only 4,2 seconds slower than Rebellion Racing. So the basic speed is there – now they just need to get rid of the technical gremlins that sneaked up during FP2 yesterday.

For the third time out of three we had DragonSpeed #31 setting the pace in LMP2, but this time followed by G-Drive Racing #26 and Jackie Chan DC Racing #38 as the following cars. Larbre Competition #50 continues to be the tail light, with only Julien Canal being able to keep the speed up. The two other drivers are quite far behind with their laptimes.

Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team UK #67 was the fastest GTE Pro car, while BMW Team MTEK #82 finally woke up in P2, ahead of Ford #66.

Porsche #92 with Michael Christensen and Kevin Estre was fourth fastest in the category, while Aston Martin Racing closed the field with their #95. It appeared to be #95 running race pace, since they were three seconds slower than their teammates in #97, without any indications for problems for the Danish/British trio.

In the GTE Am category we had a Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche 1-2 with #77 ahead of #88, while TF Sport Aston Martin #90 sneaked up into third, ahead of Team Project 1 Porsche #56.
