There was excitement all the way to the chequered flag, when the second race of the weekend in the ADAC Formula 4 was run at the Lausitzring.
Lirim Zendeli also started the second race from Pole Position, followed by Frederik Vesi and Mick Wishofer in the first three positions.
Zendeli got a great start. Oliver Caldwell from P4 managed to outdo both Vesti and Wishofer into Turn one. Vesti was actually all the way down to eight after the first lap.
Frederik Vesti pitted with some technical issues following the second lap.
Liam Lawson dived inside Enzo Fittipaldi in Turn 1, and then started hunting down Wishofer and Caldwell further ahead.
Charles Weerts was the next to put Fittipaldi under pressure, all while David Schumacher caught up with the two. Fittipaldi made a small braking error going into Turn 1, so Weerts could overtake him.

With 10 minutes left of the race, there was a clash between Gianluca Petecof and Andreas Estner. Petecof tried a hopeless overtaking attempt on Estner. That resulted in Petecof riding on the back of Estner’s car, and both drivers ended up in the gravel. That sent out the Safety Car for the recovery.
That made everything exciting again, since the whole field was back in one group, and all of Zendeli’s advantage was gone.
The drivers only got one final flying lap to settle things.
Liam Lawson made an amazing overtaking into Turn 1, and hence grabbed the last podium position from Mick Wishofer. But Lawson wasn’t done with the overtaking. In the very final corner, he went past Oliver Caldwell, crossing the line half a car length in front, and Wishofer a further car length back. Only 0,054 was the gap between Lawson and Caldwell at the line.
But nobody could touch Lirim Zendeli, who won the race in great style, followed by Lawson, Caldwell, Wishofer, Weerts, Fittipaldi, David Schumacher, while Joey Alders finished on the important 8th position, giving him Pole Position for the race tomorrow morning.
