Close morning qualifying at Lime Rock

The WeatherTech SportsCar Championship delivered an amazingly close qualifying, when the 18 cars were battling for the starting positions for today’s race at Lime Rock Park.

Wright Motorsports #58 with Patrick Long took the honours in GTD, grabbing the first Pole Position for the team, and the first for Porsche in GTD in 2018. He and his co-driver Christina Nielsen have had a really bad year with accidents, collisions and other mechanical issues, so it was really nice for them to finally have a bit of success.

3GT Racing Lexus #14 with Dominik Baumann were the second fastest ahead of their teammates in #15 driven by Jack Hawksworth. He usually shares the car with David Heinemeier Hansson, but the Dane has opted to skip this weekend, letting Mario Farnbacher pair up with Hawksworth instead.

Championship leaders Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini #48 will be starting the race from P4, while Meyer Shank Racing Acura #86 sitting P2 in the standings with Katherine Legge, will only be starting from P9.

There was less than half a second between the first 8 cars in the category, so a close battle is expected in the race.

Corvette Racing #3 snatched Pole Position in GTLM with Antonio Garcia behind the wheel, taking the first Pole for him and Jan Magnussen in 2018. Porsche #912 with Laurens Vanthoor is the second fastest, ahead of Ford Chip Ganassi Racing #66 driven by Dirk Müller.

The race will start tonight at 21.10 CET.
