Buemi part of new team

Sebastien Buemi will be a part of the new Nissan NISMO outfit, taking over from the Renault e.dams team, in the upcoming ABB FIA Formula E Championship season.

He will however have a new teammate, which already was clear earlier in the year, when it was announced that Nico Prost wouldn’t be part of the outfits Season 5 plans.

That will be Alex Albon, who will drive the second car for the team. It will still be e.dams running the cars for Nissan NISMO.

Buemi won the Formula E Championship in 2015/16 for Renault e.dams, and was pushing 2014/15 Champion Nelson Piquet Jr. and 2016/17 Champ Lucas Di Grassi all the way. The season that just finished, wasn’t as good for the Swiss driver, taking four podiums, and finishing fourth in the Championship.

Buemi will then be driving for two different Japanese constructors, since he already races for Toyota Gazoo Racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Albon has British father and a Thai mother, racing under license from Thailand. He naturally started racing in Karting, where he amongst other things finished second in both the WSK Euro Series and CIK-FIA World Championship in 2011.

It has also been close but no cigar in the real race cars so far, after finishing third in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2,0 in 2014, finishing second in the GP3 series in 2016. He currently sits third in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, with two remaining rounds.

The ABB FIA Formula E Championship starts on 15 December in Saudi Arabia.
