FIA WEC Prologue and Rookie test 2019 announced

The dates for the FIA World Endurance Championship Prologue and Rookie Test 2019 have been announced.

The Prologue will be run on 24-25 July at Circuit de Catalunya in Spain. That is the week following the third round of the European Le Mans Series, at the same venue.

The FIA WEC Prologue this year was run at Paul Ricard in the south of France, on the weekend prior to the ELMS season start, and two days before their first testing started.

The Rookie Test will be reintroduced, being run in Bahrain on 15 December 2019 – the day following the fourth round of the 2019/20 Championship at the same venue. The Rookie test is a special test, where the FIA WEC organized will name some young talented drivers, to get at least 30 laps in a sports car. Some cars will be selected for the event. Historically it was Porsche, Toyota and Audi chosen for LMP1, while the champions of LMP2 and GTE Pro also would have to run. There are no further details on the teams just yet, but we can be pretty sure that Toyota is one of them.

The FIA World Endurance Championship 2019/20 season starts on 1 September at Silverstone in Great Britain.
