STARD plans for two cars

STARD plans to enter two cars in the FIA World Rallycross Championship 2019.

The team already have the first driver signed, with Janis Baumanis going for his third consecutive season for the team. Baumanis made his World RX debut in 2016 with World RX Team Austria in a Ford Fiesta. That happened following the 2015 season, where he won the European Championship in Super1600 in a Renault Twingo.

The Austrian team is owned by the former WRC and World RX competitor Manfred Stohl, who has put his focus on running the team rather than racing himself.

The team is currently building a brand new car, which they don’t want to give further details about just yet. They have run with Ford Fiesta models so far, but they have contacts to KIA, so that might be the shape of their new car.

The FIA World Rallycross Championship season starts early April in Abu Dhabi, so they still have some time to found and announce the second driver for the team.
