Three men continue at United Autosports

United Autosports have the drivers ready for the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship 2019/20 season, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2019.

And it will be three well known faces.

Phil Hanson, Filipe Albuquerque and Paul Di Resta will share the Ligier JS P217 Gibson #22.

It’s is a combination of their European Le Mans Series and Asian Le Mans Series drivers. The three have shared the car for the last few years at UA, where Hanson has been the common factor in all the equations, while Albuquerque and Di Resta has been swapping and changing, next to the young driver.

The team announced a continued ELMS programme for 2019, while they will expand to the FIA WEC in the coming season. It was confirmed last Friday, that #22 will have an entry to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June 2019, as the sole car for the team so far. They had hoped to be able to enter at least two cars, but the ACO opted to go for variability rather than multiple cars from the same teams.

The opening round of the ELMS 2019 clashes with the Long Beach round in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, so Albuquerque can’t be at the Paul Ricard circuit. The team hasn’t announced Di Resta as his replacement, but that would only be natural.

Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque won two ELMS races together in 2018, while Hanson and Paul Di Resta secured the Asian Le Mans Series title in LMP2 in the 2018/19 season, just over one week ago.

The three drivers also shared car #22 at Le Mans 2018.

United Autosports have only announced a single entry to the FIA WEC 2019/20, but the team has a habit of announcing things bit by bit, so don’t be surprised if an additional car pops up.
