Full time job for Jensen in ELMS

The Danish racing driver Mikkel Jensen will have a very busy 2019.

Not only will the BMW Motorsport works driver do the Intercontinental GT Challenge plus selected VLN rounds, but he will also race in both the European Le Mans Series plus the Road to Le Mans race.

The Italian Eurointernational squad has signed Jensen to race in a Ligier JS P3 LMP3 car, where he will team up with German Jens Petersen for the six ELMS rounds and the single Road to Le Mans event, which is a support race for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.

Mikkel already knows the team, since he raced for them at the Road to Le Mans race in 2018. But he did 4 out of 6 rounds in the European Le Mans Series for AT Racing, where the last two had clashes with his BMW commitment in the ADAC GT Masters. His 2017 season was 5 out of 6 races – so 2019 will be the first time for him to do a full ELMS season.

The series will start in less than a month time at Paul Ricard, before it goes to Monza in May, Road to Le Mans in June, Circuit de Catalunya in July, Silverstone in August, Spa Francorchamps in September and then the finale at Portimao in October.

Mikkel Jensen has claimed several Pole Positions in LMP3, while Jens Petersen is the defending Michelin Le Mans Cup Champion in a Norma LMP3 car. So the Danish-German duo could very well be a part of the top in the LMP3 field, which consists of 14 full time entries for the season.

So we almost reach the level of a Danish invasion in the ELMS and Michelin Le Mans Cup, which is a support series to the ELMS, with Mikkel Jensen being joined by Martin Vedel Mortensen, Christian Stubbe Olsen, Michelle Gatting, Anders Fjordbach, Dennis Andersen plus Mikkel Mac.

The European Le Mans Series starts 14 April at Paul Ricard in the south of France.
