Racing Team Nederland replaces Dutchman with Dutchman

Racing Team Nederland has started the upcoming FIA World Endurance Championship 2019/20 season, but finalizing the last few details.

They announced a new partner ship with TDS Racing a few months ago, who will run an ORECA 07 for the team. Giedo van der Garde, Nyck de Vries and Frits van Eerd tested the car last week, for the very first time, at Motorland Aragon

The team has run a Dallara P217 so far, but team owner van Eerd has decided to go for the ORECA version, since they have emerged as faster than the Dallara, plus it’s easier to drive for the Am drivers.

But it won’t be Giedo, Nyck and Frits in #29 at the opening. De Vries also races in FIA Formula 2, and there is a date clash with their Spa Francorchamps round. So the team had to go for a reserve.

They are very proud of being Dutch (even though they have chosen the French TDS Racing to run the car), and will replace the young racing driver with another young Dutchman.

Job van Uitert will be the third driver for the team at Silverstone, but also the Shanghai race. It will however be the team owner himself that needs to be replaced in Shanghai due to other commitments.

Van Uitert is the defending LMP3 Champion in the European Le Mans Series, and was headhunted by G-Drive Racing #26 for their ELMS programme.

G-Drive Racing #26 is also run by TDS Racing, so the Dutchman just needs to grab a different suit, while everything else will appear normal to him.

He will be busy at Silverstone, since there is both ELMS and FIA WEC on that weekend. But his luck is that the 4 hours ELMS race is Saturday, while the FIA WEC with similar length is Sunday afternoon.
