SPM with reserve driver

Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports will be doing the NTT IndyCar Series race in Portland, with a reserve driver behind the wheel.

Marcus Ericsson has been called to Belgium by the Alfa Romeo F1 team, which he is also contracted by, and that means he can’t race in Portland.

The SPM team has managed to grab Conor Daly, who thereby will get another start this year.

Daly can and will only be able to sub for Ericsson this weekend, since it’s already decided that he will race for Andretti Autosport at the season finale at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

With Daly going to race for SPM, the rumours will start once again, that McLaren are interested in him for the upcoming season, where they will partner up with the SPM team.

The first outing for Conor Daly in 2019 was back in May, when he raced in the Indy 500 for Andretti Autosport. He has then raced for Carlin at the oval races, as a sub for Max Chilton, who doesn’t want to do the ovals.

The Grand Prix of Portland will be run on Sunday 1 September 2019.
