Juncos returns to IMSA

Juncos Racing finally returns to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, when Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta is back in two weeks’ time.

The team enters with a brand new Cadillac DPi-V.R, after their original car was totalled in a crash at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park back in July.

Rene Binder and Will Owen will be joined by Spencer Pigot, who gets his debut in the Cadillac car. But he is far from being a rookie in the IMSA series. He raced for Mazda from 2016-2018 as the third driver, and he had a long time connection to the Japanese brand, due to their support in the junior categories, on his way to Indycar. Pigot actually finished on the Road Atlanta podium last year.

Spencer Pigot has a long history with Ricardo Juncos. He raced for Juncos in his karting years, and for several seasons in single-seater.

Will Owen and Rene Binder had more racing than the IMSA programme, running in the European Le Mans Series too 2019, for United Autosports and Panis Barthez Competition respectively.

The 10-hour IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at Road Atlanta will be run on 12 October 2019.
