Indonesian team in the Asian LMS

Asian Le Mans Series will once again add to the list of participating nations in the series.

When the 2019/20 season starts later this month in Shanghai, there will be an Indonesian team on the grid.

T2 Motorsports will enter the GT category with a Ferrari 488 GT3, driven by Italian Christian Colombo, and the two Indonesian drivers  David Tjiptobiantoro and ex-Formula 1 driver Rio Haryanto.

Haryanto has been coaching Tjiptobiantoro for the last few years, after he ended his F1 career, and they have raced in the Blancpain GT Series Asia in a Ferrari. Tjiptobiantoro has previously won the Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific – Coppa Shell 2014 in a Ferrari 458 Challenge Evo.

Colombo has done a mix of Italian, French and British Formula 3 nearly 20 years ago, but has returned to motorsport with T2 Motorsports in Asia, where he has raced for the previous three seasons, and sharing the car at times with Tjiptobiantoro.

The ultimate goal for the team is to secure a 24 Hours of Le Mans entry, which will be handed out to the two best teams in the GT category.

The Asian Le Mans Series 2019/20 starts in just over two weeks’ time at Shanghai International Circuit in China.
