Algarve Pro with new colours and new drivers

Algarve Pro Racing has made quite a few changes to the team, ahead of the 2020 season in the European Le Mans Series.

The team based in Portugal has been known for their Azure blue cars in the most recent years, but they will be black and while for this season.

The change has happened due to a new sponsor deal with the watch maker B.R.M. which primarily uses these colours for their brand.

The team will also switch from Dunlop to Goodyear tires. The two tire manufactures are however related to each other, so it’s not a massive change. Goodyear will be sole tire supplier for the ELMS LMP2 from 2021, so it’s only a natural choice to stick with them for the coming season.

The team has quite a step up on the driver side. Henning Enqvist will be sharing the car with Loic Duval and Jon Lancaster, while John Falb will be joined by Simon Trummer and Gabriel Aubry. You shouldn’t diss drivers like Andrea Pizzitola and Olivier Pla – but with Duval as former Le Mans winner and World Champion at Audi Sport in LMP1, Lancaster as former ELMS LMP2 Champion, Falb as former LMP3 Champion in ELMS, Aubry as second in both Le Mans and the WEC in LMP2, and Simon Trummer having plenty of sportscar and single seater experience from all over the world, they are quite well covered on that front.

Algarve Pro Racing was the team winning the Asian Le Mans 2019/20 in LMP2 in G-Drive Racing colours, which has awarded them a Le Mans ticket for the #25 car, which will be raced by Falb and Trummer. The third driver is still yet to be announced, since Aubry has FIA WEC duties at Jackie Chan DC Racing.

The European Le Mans Series 2020 starts on 19 July at Paul Ricard, France.
