Kissling Motorsport withdraw from motorsport activities

There are still another two months left, until the VLN Endurance Championship 2019 season will kick off at the Nürburgring.  But yesterday, a bad news arrived for some fans.  Helmut und Stefan Kissling of Kissling Motorsport announced on their Facebook page and website, that they will withdraw from all motorsport activities after 41 years in that business. BMW ready with their 2019 programme

BMW celebrated all their achievements throughout 2018 yesterday evening in Munich, and announced their 2019 programmes as well. The team confirmed six cars from the DTM 2019, where a brand new 4 cylinder turbo engine with a bit over 600 bhp will be used. That gives a significantly different sound, than what we are used to from the DTM cars, but with a minimum of noise cancelling, there will still be plenty of sound. VLN 2019 schedule presented

The VLN series has announced its race schedule for 2019. It’s going to be a few intensive weeks in the spring and fall, because there needs to be room in the middle of the season for the Nürburgring 24 Hours, which most of the VLN teams will run too. There is a qualifying race for the 24 hours on the long Nordschleife, where the team needs to run too. Round 5 of the 2018 season was an elongated 6 hour affair. Frikadelli racing continued their good form from last time out, with Norbert Siedler securing pole position for a very warm fourth VLN round of the year, the front row to himself as the #35 BMW M6 would be disqualified from qualifying. 136 cars set a time in qualifying, but with a slimmed down SP9/GT3 class, the opportunity was there for some of the lower class cars to get a good showing. Porsche drove an amazing time at the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife, where their Porsche 919 Evo did a 5:19,55, which is almost one minute faster than the official track record that Stefan Bellof did in a Porsche 956 C back in 1983. As the rain eased off slightly, the cars took to the green hell slightly delayed and with barrier repairs still occurring at some areas of the track. Disaster on the out lap for #42 Lexus as the engine let go in dramatic fashion.
