The Korean tire manufacturer Hankook has signed a new deal with Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. The new deal runs until the end of 2023, so there will be stability on the tire supplying side of things. Hankook started delivering tires for DTM in 2011, where there hadn’t been any tire war since the series was re-launched in Year 2000. Dunlop had been sole tire supplier for the first 11 seasons. DTM headed to Italy for the fifth and sixth rounds on Misano circuit, southeast of Bologna. The race on Saturday was run under sunshine and warmth. Pietro Fittipaldi will be doing the DTM race at Misano after all, this coming weekend. The Brazilian wasn’t scheduled to do the race for WRT Team Audi Sport, since he was going to be on reserve driver duty for HAAS F1 Team. The qualifying to the fourth round of the 2019 DTM season was run at Zolder track in Belgium. Sheldon van der Linde had taken Pole Position, in his only fourth DTM race, ahead of Rene Rast, yesterday’s winner Philipp Eng, Robin Frijns, and Timo Glock. The third round of this season’s DTM was run on the Belgian Zolder, in nice 26 degrees air temperature. It was the first time since 2002 that the series were back to the track – and actually it was the place where the DTM series started in 1984. Unlike the DTM race on Saturday, the teams were greeted by dry asphalt for the Sunday race. Philipp Eng had taken Pole Position ahead of yesterday’s winner, Marco Wittmann. The DTM series had their final collective test at Lausitzring, ahead of the season start at Hockenheim in two weeks’ time. Here’s a picture of each of the cars running at the test. Pietro Fittipaldi wasn’t at the track, so we refer to the graphics that the team released at his announcement. All 18 DTM drivers for the 2019 season have now been announced. The final driver was revealed today, with Pietro Fittipaldi joining Audi Sport Team WRT. He’ll be teammates with Jonathan Aberdein. There have been talks for a long time, but the dates are finally confirmed. DTM and SUPER GT will meet at two race meetings in 2019. The first time will be at the DTM season finale at Hockenheim on 5-6 October, where Honda, Lexus and Nissan will send one car each, to participate in the DTM race. DTM will go to Japan on 23-24 November, where a common non-championship race with SUPER GT will be held at Fuji International Speedway. DTM promises at least 12 cars on the trip. If…

They will be very busy in the south of Germany and the northern part of Switzerland the next few months. R-Motorsport will not only enter two DTM cars, but four cars at the start of the season at Hockenheim in May.
